LIGHTS . . . CAMERA . . . ACTION!!
Join us for a week of Filmmaking Fun as Video One brings you Camp Hollywood!
Spend the week working as a team to write and create short films. Experience
the movie-making process from beginning ideas to editing a DVD and learn acting,
improvisation, writing, directing, camera work, lighting and editing.
In each camp, all students will have a chance to choose a filmmaking focus.
Students interested in performance will have additional opportunities in front of the
camera, while those with a more technical interest spend more time working with cameras,
sound and lights. In this way everyone gets the film experience that best suits him or her.
Each camp is a guaranteed educational experience wrapped in non-stop fun. And always,
our camps focus on creativity, imagination, discovery and teamwork.
Camps are for ages 11-14 and are held Monday through Friday from 10:00-3:30
at Video One, downtown Bellingham on Bay Street.
Week One
Making Your Movie
AGES 11-14 yrs
June 16 - 20
Students use improvisational theater and storytelling exercises to create characters and stories for the screen.
Students also learn the elements of camera, lighting, sound and directing as they film their stories
and edit into a DVD. Camp will focus on using the cameras, lighting gear and equipment that students may already have around the house.
This week could also be titled: "making a scene using stuff from home depot."
The idea is learn skills you can use throughout the year - regardless of your "film budget."
Week Two
Film Skills
AGES 12-14 yrs
June 23 - 27
This week is for the student who is interested in a more in-depth look at the skills of acting, directing,
camera and lighting. Students will run through a variety of exercises including: Improvisation, Scripted Film Acting,
Lighting Design, Green Screen Technique, Cinematography. Learn the finer elements of
filmmaking by recreating scenes from favorite films. Students will also have a
chance to put the skills into action on their own short video pieces.
WEEK TWO IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO STUDENTS WHO TAKE WEEK ONE

PAST CLASSES
APRIL 2007
Reality TV reaches new levels of absurdity when Camp Hollywood unleashes their latest, and possibly
greatest, film. Inspired by shows such as "Survivor" and "The Apprentice," we will create
our own mock Reality Television Show, complete with bizarre characters, Herculean tasks
and unpredictable plot twists.
FEBRUARY 2007
Explore your inner Belushi! Inspired by the sketch comedy of Saturday Night Live, we will create our own sketch comedy show
using improv games to create characters and scenes.
NOVEMBER 2006
Combining the styles of mock-umentary and narrative filmmaking
we will develop and shoot a short film in two days (Yes, we
attempt the impossible) about a group of students kidnapped by aliens.
, this should be a great addition to
any DVD collection.

VALUE VILLAGE
These folks have been taking care of my costuming needs since I was doing theater at
the Allied Arts. Many wigs, props and scarfs have made their journey from the shelves of
Value Village to the screen. As always, thank you.
These films, like many other film and theater programs around the country, are made possible only
through the generosity of businesses like those above. Please thank them with your support.
